Alex Talberg

Solution lead and storyteller.

I design and deliver systems that work and experiences that resonate. Whether it's redefining system identity at the BBC or crafting a cinematic promo, every detail is made with intent, always.

THE NOW

Tech That Tells a Story

I lead the BBC's system identity strategy—governing thousands of non-person accounts that underpin broadcasting, automation, and enterprise systems. These identities are essential but complex, often lacking structure and visibility.

Where others stalled, I developed and deployed tailored lifecycle platforms from scratch—defining ownership, accuracy, automating fulfilment and lifecycle management, and making everything accessible through clean interfaces and reliable technology stacks.

🛠 BUILT WITH PURPOSE Designed to be trusted, intuitive and an enabler for the BBC's digital future.

Films That Feel

I bring a cinematic approach to storytelling—capturing not just what something is, but how it feels. From gym transformation promos to internal comms campaigns, I write, shoot, and direct visual content that's emotional, authentic, and carefully paced.

It's about more than video—it's about resonance, clarity, and making something that sticks.

Free Time, Full Throttle

My downtime is never really down—I'm always building something. Whether it's designing custom dashboards for home automation, programming logic to control gates, lights, and media players, or spinning up a new web app just because it sounded fun at 2AM… I stay hands-on, all the time.

I'm also obsessed with cinema cameras. I've got several REDs—including an EPIC-X DRAGON—and recently added an ARRI Alexa to the collection. I shoot, tinker, and even reverse engineer firmware when I'm curious enough.

Lately, I've been diving deep into electronic engineering—soldering custom circuits, building gear from scratch, and teaching myself FPGA programming with a Xilinx dev board.

🧠 PASSION PROJECTS Home-brew tech, hacked cameras, and creative control—built from the ground up.

THE THEN

Modern Comms. Zero Fuss.

The BBC's move to SIP telephony was a major transformation—impacting every site, region, and production space. As the delivery lead, I coordinated every piece of the puzzle: from vendor engagement and platform design to phased rollout, stakeholder assurance, and issue resolution at scale.

This wasn't just installing hardware—it was reshaping the BBC's telephony infrastructure in complex mission-critical broadcast, production and business spaces.

📞 DELIVERY FOCUS End-to-end orchestration, from design, planning to deployment.

Wi-Fi Where It Counts

Deploying high-performance Wi-Fi across the BBC isn't just about coverage—it's about building infrastructure that works in high-stakes, fast-paced, production-critical environments. From Broadcasting House to EastEnders new front lot and Morning Live's move to Manchester.

I managed end-to-end delivery with engineers, facilities, and operations to bring seamless wireless performance to where it's needed most: on set, in studio, and at speed.

📡 RESULT Studio-grade connectivity with zero compromises.

Web Apps That Actually Work

At Wadebridge Computers, I built a fully custom web application to digitise the repair tracking process—transforming a paper-heavy workflow into a responsive, tablet-first system. With digital intake forms, live technician dashboards, and e-signature capture.

The platform streamlined customer service, reduced admin load, and made the business more efficient overnight.

💡 PRACTICAL INNOVATION From clipboard to client-facing tech with one sleek interface.

Leadership at University

While Deputy President of Langwith College at York, I led the redesign of the university's fresher buddy scheme and built a custom digital recruitment system to manage over 200 applicants. This included scheduling interviews, collecting interviewer feedback, and generating ranked outcomes.

I also built and delivered training sessions to over 200 student leaders, supporting a smooth and inclusive welcome experience for new students.

🎓 STUDENT IMPACT Blending tech and training to support hundreds of student journeys.

Let's Build Something Brilliant

This site isn't a pitch — it's a space. A place to document what I'm building, share what I care about, and show how tech and storytelling can meet in the middle. Whether it's system identity at scale or a handheld cinema camera in a gym, I'm all in.

Most of my time goes into my work at the BBC — but filmmaking is the side of me I want to grow. If you've got an idea that needs a lens, a voice, or a cinematic kick, reach out. Let's talk creative.
